Ohio Medicaid is a public health insurance program that provides health care coverage to nearly 3 million Ohioans who need it most.

Medicaid covers low-income individuals of all ages, families, pregnant women, children, and individuals over the age of 65 or living with a disability.

The benefit package is comprehensive and offers coverage for preventive health care, such as annual exams, mammograms, cervical cancer screenings, prostate exams, colonoscopy, diabetes screenings and lab work, prescriptions, treatment for chronic conditions, and long-term care services such as physical therapy for hip or knee replacement, memory care or hospice.

Applying for Ohio Medicaid coverage is easy through the Ohio Benefits portal.

You may also call the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 1-800-324-8680 for help, or to ask for a paper application.

Although you can fill out a paper application and mail it to your county department of job and family services, it is much faster to apply online.

You may even find out that you are eligible the same day you submit your application! If Ohio Medicaid needs more information or, you completed a paper application, it may take a few weeks to find out if you are eligible.

Before you apply, it helps to know what the eligibility requirements are.

To be eligible for coverage, you must: • Be a United States citizen or meet Medicaid citizenship requirements.

• Have (or get) a social security number • Be an Ohio resident, and • Meet financial requirements.

Even if you are not sure that you or your family will qualify for coverage, you should still apply.
